How to register a domain

Updated May 21, 2026

Registering a domain takes longer to think of a name than to actually buy.

Steps

  1. Go to the Domains page.
  2. Type the name you want and click Search.
  3. The search shows your top choice plus available variations (.in, .com, .co, .shop…).
  4. Click Add on the ones you want, then Continue.
  5. Pick how many years to register for. Multi-year discounts are shown next to each option.
  6. Fill in your details — these become the public registrant record (privacy protection is free).
  7. Pay. The domain is active within 5 minutes.

Right after registering

  • If you bought it with a hosting plan, we point the nameservers automatically.
  • If you bought just the domain, head to the next article — Pointing your domain to your hosting.

Tips

  • .com is still the most trusted, but .in works well for India-focused businesses.
  • Avoid hyphens and numbers — people forget them when typing.
  • Register for 2 years if you can; search engines treat longer registrations as a small trust signal.
